PUUR INGRID Review – Pure & Honest

Maria Velve Leave a Comment

Every once in a while, a brand comes along with a handful of really excellent skincare products.

PUUR INGRID is a Canadian brand out of Okotoks, Alberta, with a focus on simple ingredients from nature.  Ingrid, the brand’s founder, believes that nature has given us everything we need to keep our skin healthy and happy.  I completely agree! I’ve had the pleasure of being gifted three PUUR INGRID products, which I will review for you below.  Being in the beauty industry for 20 years, I have used, tested, and evaluated dozens of products.  This PUUR INGRID review is based of my own opinion, insights, and perspectives with their products.

PUUR INGRID has an unwavering commitment to toxin-free (with several certifications to boot), so consumers can shop with the freedom of knowing that everything they make is safe and good.  They are also is certified by CERT CLEAN, North America’s leading certification for safer skincare.

Many beauty brands lack ingredient transparency, often focusing the consumer’s attention away from what they don’t want to see.  Many brands focus on the “active” ingredients they’ve put in the bottle (often a few drops of this oil or that) or on what they’ve removed from the bottle to distract from the full ingredient list. PUUR INGRID helps consumers see both – the active ingredients and the full ingredient list right on the product page.  So, let’s get on  to the PUUR INGRID review.

Squalane Absolute  – A lightweight, unscented oil for all skin types

It is often difficult to find high-end unscented skincare products.  Sure, essential oils are lovely on the skin, but they’re not for everyone.  Having the option of a pure, unscented squalane product is definitely one of the things I love about the PUUR INGRID Squalane Absolute. It’s made of a single ingredient, 100% pure sugar-derived squalane, and it feels wonderful on the skin.

Why does your skin need squalane, you ask? Squalane is the hydrogenated version of Squalene, a lipid produced by our skin cells.  As we age, production declines, and our skin becomes drier and rougher.

Squalene is not only found in our bodies. It’s also found in olives and sugarcane.  PUUR INGRID uses the sugarcane version of Squalene, which is more stable and skin-friendly when converted to squalane.  The squalane oil produced is light and easily absorbed into the skin.  My skin drank it up quickly and instantly felt plumper and more hydrated.

Because the Squalane Absolute serum is unscented, it can be used by reactive and sensitive skin types or anyone sensitive to scents.  Its lightweight feel also makes it ideal for acne-prone skins because they need hydration, too.   I tapped and massaged the Squalane Absolute serum onto my cleansed skin.  Then, I followed up with the Facial Radiance oil in order to seal in all that hydration. I love how pure this product is and the fact that I can use it around my eyes.

All skin types can benefit from an oil serum. This is why I try to encourage all my clients to find one with a texture they like.  The Squalane Absolute can be beneficial for all skin types and even win over oilier, acne-prone individuals who are hesitant to trying a heavier facial oil.

PUUR INGRID Facial Radiance

Facial Radiance  – Brighten and fight the signs of aging

The second product in my PUUR INGRID review is the Facial Radiance facial oil.  An anti-aging face oil should not be missing from anyone’s beauty bag, especially in winter! And, neither should a good vitamin C serum.  Combine these two, and you have a winning product!

PUUR INGRID’S Facial Radiance oil serum combines anti-aging winners such as evening primrose, camellia seed oil, and squalane with oil-soluble Vitamin C.  Evening primrose oil contains high amounts of the fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is wonderful for reducing skin inflammation and improving the skin’s structure and function.  After using it for a week, my skin felt well moisturized and firm.  I found Facial Radiance to absorb easily and not feel heavy on the skin at all.

The star ingredient in the Facial Radiance Facial Oil is Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate – a very stable, oil-soluble form of Vitamin C.  Vitamin C is a-must for improving texture irregularities such as scarring from acne and brightening the skin.  Topical use of Vitamin C can reduce UV exposure’s damaging effects, helping to regenerate and repair damaged skin cells. And unlike its cousin, ascorbic acid, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate will not exfoliate or irritate the skin.

This makes the Facial Radiance Facial Oil a safe option for sensitive skin types, which would not be able to take advantage of the numerous benefits of Vitamin C.  Often, one has to build up a tolerance to Vitamin C, and a tingling sensation can be felt.  I did not experience any tingling when using this product, and my skin looked radiant and smooth after using it.

More goodness in the bottle

The Facial Radiance oil serum also contains plant-derived Squalane, which penetrates deep into your pores to promote collagen production. Essential oils of rosemary, geranium offer anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits, which are of great benefit to oilier, acne-prone skin types.   Lemon peel extract helps brighten and smooth uneven or scarred skin.

Although I love essential oils and the benefits they offer on the skin and senses,  this product would not be a good option for anyone who has sensitivities to  rosemary and/or geranium essential oils or to scents in general.  Compared to other oil serums I’ve used, however, this facial oil’s smell is very mild.  It has a delicate fragrance that was pleasing on the skin and did not overpower. Every skin needs to take advantage of a facial oil. The benefits are too many to overlook.

PUUR INGRID Triple Treat Tonic

Triple Treat Tonic – a leave-in detangler for all

I’m very simple when it comes to my hair regimen.  I wash, condition, apply a gel, and let it air-dry.  Trying this spray-in conditioner was a real treat.  Triple Treat Tonic is a detangler, de-frizz, and deep condition hair product in one! It is made with hydrating aloe juice and a special ingredient called Glossyliance®, an innovative plant-derived extract that boosts shine.

Both aloe juice and Glossyliance® help soothe hair without weighing it down. My thick curly hair loved this product very much.  The citrusy scent from lemon peel extract and orange peel oil was heavenly, too.

As a curly-haired woman, I  don’t comb or brush my hair much.  This product would not be a good detangler for me, but an excellent curl booster  between washes.  I loved how it revived and freshened up my curls 2-3 days after shampooing.  You can spray it directly on dry hair to help redefine your curls!

I did use it on my boys’ hair as a detangler, and I loved how soft and shiny it made their hair look.  My youngest has fine hair, which gets into quite the frizzy mess at night from his pillow. As a mom, it’s wonderful to know that there’s a gentle detangler out there without synthetic fragrance.   I think many different hair types can benefit from this product.  It’s a multi-purpose hair treat whether you’re refreshing between washes or detangling a bed head.

Final Thoughts of PUUR INGRID

PUUR INGRID is a clean, minimalist, Canadian beauty brand.  They make their organic, cruelty-free, vegan, eco-conscious products with love and respect for the natural world.  They also offer competitive prices in an industry that sometimes makes clean choices unaffordable.

PUUR Ingrid manufactures its products in small batches in their Calgary laboratory to make their products as fresh as possible when they get to our hands.  I can respect that and will definitely be giving the rest of the PUUR INGRID line a try.

I hope you enjoyed this PUUR INGRID review and please let me know if you have any other questions about the above products.  Please leave your comments for me below. I am here to help!
